Un-allocate a child and return to previous status

There are times when a child has been allocated and that allocation needs to be undone — for example, to move them to a different program or correct an error. (This is different from Care No Longer Required, which is used when a family no longer needs a place at all.)

How you un-allocate depends on the type of preference the child holds — jump straight to the one you need:

• Program preference — the child is allocated to a specific program and holds program preference records. The child returns to Programs Preferenced.
• Service preference — the child is allocated to the service only and holds program preference records. The child returns to Waitlisted.
• Extended preference — the child is allocated to a program and holds preference records (applies only where your service is set up with extended preferences). Un-allocated directly on the child record.

Un-allocating a program or service preference

The steps are the same for both — open the relevant preference record and un-allocate. The difference is the resulting status: a program preference returns the child to Programs Preferenced; a service preference returns them to Waitlisted.

This one's quick — you un-allocate directly on the child record:

1. Open the child record and click Edit.
2. In the Allocation Summary section, tick Unallocate Current Allocation (or Unallocate Upcoming Allocation for the upcoming period).
3. Click Save.
