EnrolNow supports either one way or two way SMS.
- One-Way SMS: sends messages to your contacts without capturing or actioning replies. This works with both sender ID types.
- Two-Way SMS captures replies back into the system so your team can see and respond to them. This requires a numeric sender ID — it cannot be enabled on alphanumeric sender IDs.
Which option is available as well as the end customer experience will depend on your Sender ID type — the name or number that appears as the sender on your recipients' phones.
Sender ID Types
| Sender ID Type | 1-way SMS (no replies) | 2-way SMS (replies) |
|---|---|---|
| Alphanumeric (e.g. "SunshineELC") | ✅ Supported (replies technically impossible) Displays your organisation's name. No real phone number is attached and therefore responses will not be possible. | ❌ Not supported There is no destination for a reply to route to. This is an SMS infrastructure limitation, not something that can be changed with a tech fix. |
| Numeric (virtual or dedicated mobile number eg. "0400 000 000") | ✅ Supported (replies possible but not surfaced)
| ✅ Supported
