Updated approach for Second Year of Funded Kindergarten (repeats)

Second Year of Funded Kindergarten (repeats) - supporting policy updates from 2026

From 2026, children in Victoria can access an additional year of either:

• Three Year Old Kindergarten, OR

• Four Year Old Kindergarten

Children can only access one additional year of funded kindergarten in total. 

What’s Changing in EnrolNow?

1. New Fields in the CRM 

To support this policy change, two new fields have been introduced in the Children module:

• TY - Repeat (This Year): Indicates if the child is repeating either a 3YO or 4YO funded year in the current care period

• NY - Repeat (Next Year): Indicates if the child is repeating either a 3YO or 4YO funded year funded year in the upcoming care period

These fields replace the previous "4YO Repeat" boolean field.

2. Registration Forms 

You can include a single question on the registration form asking if the child is applying for a second year of funded kindergarten.

The EnrolNow system will:

• Detect the child’s program type (3YO or 4YO/Pre-Prep)

• Determine whether the repeat is for this year or next year

• Automatically update the correct CRM field (TY - Repeat or NY - Repeat)

• Identify whether the repeat is for 3YO or 4YO

No extra configuration is needed beyond including the repeat question.

Recommended Wording for the Repeat Year Question

Second Year of Funded Kindergarten
Children enrolled in a funded kindergarten program are eligible to access a repeat year of funded 3 or 4 year old kindergarten, only if the early childhood teacher has assessed eligibility for your child to be considered for a second year.

○ No

Note: The program type (3YO or 4YO) will automatically populate in the question based on the program the family selected earlier in the form.

3. Other Forms (eg. Enrolment Forms)

You can continue to include a direct question about second (repeat) years on your enrolment form. We do however recommend updating the wording to reflect that families may now be applying for a second year of either:

• Three-Year-Old Kindergarten, or

• Four-Year-Old Kindergarten
