Parent Priority of Access Summary on Child Record

Overview

Four new read-only fields have been added to the Children module, giving you instant visibility into a parent or guardian's concession card and medical needs status, directly from the child's record.

Why this was introduced

Parent-based eligibility criteria (concession cards and medical needs) were already being captured and used correctly in the system but that information wasn't visible on the child record itself. This meant that anyone reviewing a child's registration had to manually open the linked parent record to check whether concession card or medical needs criteria applied - an extra step that slowed down reviews and made it easy to miss relevant eligibility information.

These new fields solve that by surfacing the key details right where you need them, on the child.

What's new

Four new fields now appear on the Children module:

FieldDescription
Parent 1 Concession Card SummaryShows which active concession cards Parent 1 currently holds
Parent 1 Medical Needs SummaryShows Parent 1's complex medical/disability needs status
Parent 2 Concession Card SummaryShows which active concession cards Parent 2 currently holds
Parent 2 Medical Needs SummaryShows Parent 2's complex medical/disability needs status

All four fields are read-only - they're calculated automatically and can't be edited directly on the child record.

Concession Card Summary - how it works

This field shows which concession card(s) a parent currently holds and can display any combination of:

  • HCC – Health Care Card
  • PCC – Pensioner Concession Card
  • DVA – DVA Card

A card only appears in the summary if:

  1. It's ticked on the parent's record and
  2. Its expiry date is either still current, or no expiry date has been set

If a parent holds more than one active card, the summary will list all that apply.

Medical Needs Summary - how it works

This field reflects whether a parent has complex medical needs and the approval status of those needs:

Parent record showsSummary displays
Complex Medical Needs = True
Disability/Complex Medical Needs Approved = True
Yes - Approved
Complex Medical Needs = True
Disability/Complex Medical Needs Approved = False
Yes - Not Approved
Complex Medical Needs = FalseNo

Where to find it

The four summary fields are available on the child record under the Parent / Guardian Information section.

What this means for you

  • Faster reviews - eligibility indicators are visible without leaving the child record
  • Fewer clicks - no need to open the parent record just to check card or medical needs status
  • Clearer picture - see at a glance why a child has been marked as a priority child
